Straighten Out - Stranglers Tribute Support from The Zips The best and probably ONLY current Stranglers trib in the world. Straighten Out were formed in November 2007 from the remnants of an earlier band - "Four More Heroes" - and two new members. Shaggy (bassplayer/vocalist) and Mick "The Doc" (keyboards/vocalist) reawoke their taste for a Stranglers tribute after the demise of their previous outfit, when they performed a charity gig on behalf of a very good friend who died in a motorcycle accident. The guitarist/vocalist for this show was none other than Baz Warne, guitarist with the current Stranglers lineup! Once the decision to go for it properly was made, the drum stool was filled by Shaun, long time friend of Shaggy's. Unfortunately it took over a year and a few disappointing auditions to locate the final member - Bob (guitar/vocalist). After only five (very intensive) rehearsals, Straighten Out played their first gig at the Dove and Rainbow, Sheffield on Saturday 5th of April 2008 to a rapturous response and have since continued to play a couple of times a month. up and down the country (mostly up, it has to be said, LOL). Staid As Quo Between 1970 and 1976, boogie supremos Status Quo established themselves as one of Britain’s top hard rock acts. During this incredibly prolific period, the band released a string of great albums; Ma Kelly’s Greasy Spoon, Dog Of Two Head, Piledriver, Hello!, Quo, On The Level, Blue For You, and the astounding Live! double album, recorded at the Glasgow Apollo in 1976. The band consolidated on this success with several hit singles, and a relentless touring schedule which honed their raw and exiting live act into a hard rock tour-de-force, earning them a well-deserved reputation as a premier-league road band. Staid As Quo pay tribute to this “Golden Era” with a live show packed with energy, commitment and enthusiasm – not to mention faithful recreations of those barnstorming Quo classics! Here is a band familiar with the intricacies and idiosyncrasies of Quo’s finest material, who play with pin-point accuracy and devastating force. The natural empathy between guitarists Terry Lee and Jim Faupel evokes Rossi and Parfitt at their onstage best, while the unshakeable rhythm section of Mick Hindmarch and David Taylor provides the rock-solid foundation for their full-tilt boogie blitzkrieg assault. With dedication and drive which recalls Quo in their ‘70’s heyday, Staid As Quo, after plenty of hard work, are now recognized as one of the top tributes in the country.
